General requirements under REACH

Create a REACH-IT Account

For the registration procedure, ECHA installed a special platform called REACH-IT. It is necessary to create an account for companies to register substances. The submission of a registration dossier has to be performed on REACH-IT.

Specify your company size

REACH-IT classifies companies as large/standard enterprise size by default. Therefore, companies have to provide the evidence of their correct company size. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are defined in EU recommendation 2003/361. Official information of the European Commission are available here: Enterprise Size

Please note: ECHA registration fee must be paid for each registration submitted to European Chemical Agency.
The amount of this fee depends on the annual tonnage band and the company size of the submitting entity. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have to pay a reduced fee. In order to benefit from the reduced administrative fees, companies are requested to provide a documentary evidence supporting the declared size category.

Identify (analyze) your substance

Companies have to identify their substances regarding to REACH Annex VI, Section 2.

The information about substance identity should be submitted by each Member registrant of a Joint Submission separately. On this purpose, suitable laboratory tests have to be conducted. This step is necessary before preparing an inquiry dossier or preparing a member dossier.

Please see more information about required tests for substance identity of Charcoal and Charcoal, Coconut Shell under Letter of Access - Substance Identification Profile in user area.

Prepare an inquiry

To submit an inquiry, potential registrants have to prepare an electronic inquiry dossier. When preparing the dossier, specific attention should be paid to the substance identity information given in REACH Annex VI, Section 2.

Please note, that the requirements for submitting an inquiry-dossier differ from the testing procedure proposed by the SIEF in order to fulfill the sameness criteria of the Joint Submission (JS).
